Understanding Astrology, Reports, and Consultations

FAQ

Astrology often inspires thoughtful questions, especially if you are new to it. These answers are here to help you understand how I approach astrology, what you can expect from a personally prepared report or live consultation, and how your birth information is used with care and respect. About Astrology

Do I have to believe in astrology for it to be meaningful?

No. Astrology does not require blind belief. When I interpret the symbols and patterns in your chart, you are free to consider whether they accurately reflect your personality, experiences, relationships, and life cycles.

Astrology is an ancient symbolic system that has been studied and practiced across many cultures. Some people regard it as superstition because it does not operate within the conventional framework of modern science. Others understand it as a language of correspondence—a way of exploring the relationship between the larger patterns of the cosmos and the unfolding patterns of human life.

Its value lies in the recognition, insight, and practical guidance it may offer you.

What is Dharma?

The word dharma comes from the ancient wisdom traditions of India and is often translated as sacred responsibility, right living, or one's true duty.

At Astro Life Cycles, I use the word Dharma to describe the unique responsibility that came with your incarnation. It is the unique work you are here to faithfully fulfill—the unique way you express your gifts, embody your highest values, and contribute to the flourishing of others.

Dharma is not simply about what you enjoy doing. It is about what you feel called, entrusted, or even compelled to do because it reflects who you were created to be.

How is Dharma different from Life Purpose?

Although closely related, Life Purpose and Dharma are not identical.

Your Life Purpose is the deeper reason for your incarnation. It answers the question: Why am I here?

Your Dharma is the sacred responsibility that came with that incarnation. It answers the question: What am I here to faithfully fulfill?

Purpose reveals why you came.

Dharma describes how you faithfully express that purpose through the choices you make, the work you do, the relationships you cultivate, and the contributions you offer throughout your life.

One naturally flows from the other. Purpose gives direction. Dharma gives responsibility. Together they reveal both why you came and how you are called to live. Discovering your Life Purpose brings greater clarity to your Dharma, and faithfully living your Dharma is one of the primary ways your Life Purpose is fulfilled.

Why should the movements of the planets have anything to do with life on Earth?

Astrology does not require the belief that planets physically cause events or control human behavior. Instead, it understands planetary movements as meaningful indicators of larger cycles and patterns.

The relationship is better understood as correspondence rather than direct causation: celestial patterns and human experience appear to reflect one another within an interconnected universe. The chart does not compel an outcome. It helps identify the themes, tensions, opportunities, and periods of change that may be active at a particular time.

Astrology is therefore a language of timing and meaning—not a claim that distant planets force things to happen.

Does my astrology chart reveal a fixed fate?

Your chart does not lock you into a predetermined destiny. It describes patterns, tendencies, strengths, challenges, and cycles—the landscape through which your life unfolds—but it does not dictate every step you must take.

Astrology can help you recognize what is active and how you may work with it more consciously. The chart reveals possibilities, not certainties. Your choices, awareness, circumstances, and responses all matter.

My intention is to use astrology as a source of orientation and empowerment, never as a reason to surrender your freedom.

How is an astrology reading different from a psychic reading?

An astrology reading begins with verifiable birth data and a chart calculated for the exact date, time, and place of birth. The astrologer interprets the planets, houses, aspects, patterns, and timing cycles shown in that chart.

A psychic reading does not usually depend upon an astronomical chart. It primarily draws upon the reader’s intuitive impressions, energy perception, or other methods of receiving information.

Some astrologers are highly intuitive, but an astrological interpretation remains anchored in the structure and symbolism of the chart. The two approaches may both offer insight, but they arrive there in different ways.

Getting a Reading

Why work with a professional astrologer when free reports are available online?

Free online reports can provide a quick introduction to individual features of your chart, but most are computer-generated and interpret each placement separately. They may describe your Sun, Moon, Rising sign, or planetary aspects without explaining how those elements interact as a whole.

A professional astrologer studies the complete chart—its planets, houses, aspects, patterns, and current cycles—and considers how they work together within the context of your life. An individually prepared report or consultation offers greater depth, integration, and personal relevance.

Rather than receiving a collection of isolated descriptions, you receive a coherent interpretation designed to help you understand your unique patterns, possibilities, and life journey.

What if my chart reveals something about myself that I would rather not see?

It is natural to feel apprehensive about what astrology might reveal. My role is not to judge you, label you, or expose hidden flaws. It is to help you understand yourself with compassion, honesty, and perspective.

A chart contains strengths, tensions, gifts, contradictions, and opportunities for growth—just as every human life does. A challenging pattern is not a sentence. It is something you can meet with greater awareness and choice.

Think of astrology as a mirror: it may help you see more clearly, but you remain the one who chooses how to respond, grow, and live.

Birth Time

Why is an accurate birth time important?

Your birth time determines the Ascendant, or Rising sign, as well as the placement of the planets within the twelve houses of the chart. These houses describe the areas of life in which particular themes and energies are most likely to be expressed.

Even a few minutes can alter the degree of the Ascendant and the house cusps. When the Ascendant is close to a sign boundary, a small difference may even change the Rising sign. Accurate timing is also important when examining life cycles and forecasting techniques.

A reading can still offer meaningful insight without a precise time, but some details concerning life direction, areas of emphasis, and timing may be less certain.

What is considered the time of birth for an astrology chart?

For astrological purposes, the recorded time of birth is generally used to calculate the chart. This is usually the time entered on the birth certificate or hospital record, although recording practices can vary.

Astrologers traditionally understand birth as the moment an individual enters independent life outside the womb. Because the sky and the angles of the chart are continually moving, the recorded time allows the astrologer to calculate the Ascendant and house placements as accurately as possible.

What if I do not know my exact time of birth?

You can still receive a meaningful astrology reading using your date and place of birth. The planetary signs and many important aspects remain available for interpretation, allowing us to explore core qualities, recurring patterns, relationships, and broader life cycles.

When greater precision is needed, an astrologer may use chart rectification. This process compares major life events, personal characteristics, and timing patterns in an effort to identify a plausible birth time. Because rectification is interpretive, the result should be regarded as an informed estimate rather than absolute proof.

Not knowing the exact minute does not close the door to astrology. It simply changes which techniques can be used with the greatest confidence.

Your chart is not a verdict. It is an invitation to deeper understanding.
